Accounts Assistant (Temporary)

Overview
A well‑established organisation in Luton is looking for a temporary Accounts Assistant to support the finance team following an internal promotion. This is a full office‑based role involving high‑volume processing, reconciliations, and general accounting support. It suits someone organised, accurate, and confident working within a busy finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Daily & Weekly Accounting Tasks
- Process around 100 invoices per week using Xero
- Maintain accurate financial records and update the accounting system daily
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process purchase orders, credit notes, and staff expenses
- Perform regular bank, credit card, and supplier reconciliations
Payroll Support
- Collate payroll information such as weekly/monthly hours, new starters, leavers, and amendments
- Prepare payroll spreadsheets and submit data to the outsourced payroll provider
- Ensure all payroll information is complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule
General Finance Administration
- Respond to internal finance queries and assist colleagues where needed
- Support the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks
- Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation
